This is my Doomsday edition of John Milton's Paradise Lost. The book is illustrated by Gustave Dore and was published in 2006 by Eagle Editions Limited. I did not rebind the book, but instead hardened the cover with polyurethane resin and sculpted over it in durable epoxy putty. Integrated into the center of the book is a handmade leather knife sheath, tightly grasping a wicked faux bone handled knife (fashioned from an anatomy model and epoxy putty).

The hefty book is 10" x 12.25" and is just over 1.5" thick. The knife is just short of 10.5" long from the pommel to tip of the blade. The blade itself is 5.25" long.

The dagger is a serious piece of wicked handy craft capable of defending any would be apocalyptic preacher from the predations of this crumbling world.

There is some slight wear on the first and last couple pages of the book, but they detract little from the tome's hell-wrought majesty.

This book is now in a private collection.

How do you get that wrinkled texture on the flat surfaces?

Its sort of a plastic mache.

These books are amazing. How do they still open, is the material flexible?
